Cultured Chic

I had such an overwhelmingly busy week last week so it was great to spend the weekend just making, or maybe I should say catching up on some making. A while ago I found some great t.shirts in need of a spot of enoch & plonk magic and I finally had a chance to get my lovely big scissors out and have a play.

The first struck me because of its graphics. The contrast of font style and size with colour I felt it would make a stunning frock. And of course adding a little spare plaid added some further interest. The blue sleeve picks up the blue in the plaid beautifully and the neck line does the same with the graphic.

Nintendo Stars

Some exciting, fresh new designs using 'Nintendo' tees I feel make a great addition to the current collection. They are vibrant bold and fun. Terrific for summer.

Retro Invaders and Monsters

A great retro design comes in the shape of a 'Space Invaders' t.shirt in grey with a super brilliant pink graphic. The addition of some pretty pink sleeves gives it a feminine touch.

Next we have a design favourite with 'Domo'  the official  mascot of  NHK.  This little fella looks great on his black/brown dress showing off his razer sharp teeth.  Complimented with short red sleeves.

newbies and freebies

thoughts on branding

Most of my sales do occur on facebook but I have decided to list all available designs on this blogsite first.  The reasons for this are that I don't want all my eggs in one basket so only making designs available on FB would be foolish from a business perspective.  I also love the freedom that this blog gives me, I can have multiple links to other content, play with layout and be independent to a certain extent.   I'm also trying to create an 'enoch & plonk' brand and this can only occur with complete control over content and appearance.  I had a moment of clarity yesterday on Tip Tuesday run by Promoting Australian Small Business

If 'enoch & plonk' is going to stand out from the crowd it has to have it's own identity, a platform created for it, where it's personality can shine.  Not as easy as it sounds but hopefully with some hard work enoch & plonk will achieve this.

so what's new ??

I have a small pile of funky tees I'm working with at present the first of which I finished Sunday. It was included in 'Tickle the Imagination's' word for the day on Monday 'stripes'.  It's a very striking, bold design. The graphic is what attracted me to the tee and I had some great stripey fabric already which looks stunning with the 'Paramore' print in white and gold.

This frock has a very strong A-line shape due to the heavier stripey fabric along the bottom which helps the frock keep it's shape.  The t.shirt fabric is light and perfect for the hotter weather, whether playing in the park or looking cool on a shopping trip with mum.

It will be one whole year since enoch & plonk became official on Novemeber 1st and things have changed hugely in a short space of time. Recently surpassing the 1500 fan milestone on facebook, where it all began.  And so to celebrate I will be giving away either one of my unique designer one-of-a-kind t.shirts or my last softie 'frog in a tie' to one lucky fan.

The Challenge

To win 'frog in a tie' or t.shirt of your choice write a short verse about why and what you love about enoch & plonk designs.   Make it fun, funky and of course fabulous and you could very well be the winner !!

Guns 'n' Roses

is a gorgeously soft t.shirt dress with 3/4 sleeves.  Definitely for the little miss who likes being noticed.

Kiss

is a strikingly vibrant 'in your face' design perfect for an aspiring rock chic.  With bright pink short sleeves and extra wide skirt.

History of Rock

the brain stormers thinking frock.  A great contrast of black and bright turquoise.  Simple,cool and stunning.

Each is designed using new fabrics unless stated otherwise.  It's a process of mixing and matching with unused sleeves and bottom halves of tees used in previous designs.  They are easy care just like any regular t.shirt, have plenty of stretch so will last ages; and all seams are finished using overcast stitches with the hems sewn with a tricot stitch.

Sizes vary and are approximate.  Sizing is not standardized each dress is created using the constraints of the t.shirt being used, in other words if a dress is made using a medium sized tee (I prefer to us XL or XXL) this will effect the width of the final dress.

Making the world a funkier place one dress at a time

With the school holidays coming to an end it's time to create once more.  I'm currently working on a 'Guns n Roses' and a 'Kiss' Rock Frock.  All being well they will be available to purchase very soon.

I also picked up a few 'Nintendo' tees yesterday (Donkey Kong and Super Mario) they will make great bright and bold additions to the collection.
